Top technological trends that will take the world by storm in 2021

Its always important to know whats coming next so you can budget for and leverage the right technology that will propel your business forward! From Smart Cities to 3D printing to Robots to Augmented reality. Here’s my take on top tech trends come 2021.
3D printing
This is the process of printing or constructing a three dimensional objects from a digital 3D model. A handful of industries today employ 3 D printing in their manufacturing processes. Thousands of industries in the western world are expected to switch to this printing type come 2021. Products that can be manufactured with 3d printing include Consumer products like eye wear, foot wear and furniture. Others include prosthetics, dental products, automotive products like spare parts and movie props. 3D printing is fast and relatively cheap therefore expect its dominance in the manufacturing industries pretty soon.
Smart Cities
A smart city is simply a city that wholly runs on data and digital technology to enhance the lives of its inhabitants. Smart cities are expected to create huge business opportunities with a market value of 5.5 trillion USD by 2025. Components of a smart city include smart buildings, smart healthcare, smart infrastructure, smart governance and smart education, smart security, smart cars and smart energy. Smart education includes elearning services for governments, basic school, college plus universities, and enterprises. Major cities in North America and Europe are estimated to upgrade to smart city status by 2025, theses cities include Vancouver, Amsterdam, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney.
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is simply when digital information is overlayed unto the actual physical world. Snap chat has added augmented reality to its features in the new lens filters, I therefore expect other popular social media networks and apps to follow suite. The internet is watching you via augmented reality bare in mind. Expect AR to play a major role in our day to day interactions as lots of companies will use it in their marketing strategies. Gaming companies have jumped unto the AR wagon, with some in the sporting sector predicting a boom in its use in major stadia globally. AR will soon change the face of education as well. Best current examples of Augmented reality include Google Pixels Star Wars Sticker, Disney Colouring Book, Weather Channel Studio Effect and Nintendo’s Pokemon Go App.
Robots
The advents of robots – the robotics revolution- is changing our lives for the better. Any automated machine which substitutes human effort is a robot.
Cyber Security
With the spike in the number of cybercrime cases globally, the magnitude of cybersecurity coupled with number of cybersecurity jobs remaining unfilled by 2021, 3.5 million, I expect major improvements in this scope come 2021. Cyber security as a major priority of every organisation in todays digital age hence its spot in this list. The cyber economy is expected to hit trillions of dollars in the next two years while cyber crime damages will cost the world approximately 6 trillion USD by 2021. The only way the cyber security jobs deficit can be solved is to use a combination of professional efforts from humans plus automated solutions with AI. Expect a combination of both solutions in 2021.

Artificial Intelligence
Unlike the natural intelligence demonstrated by humans and animals artificial intelligence is the intelligence possesed by machines. Progress in technology in today’s global village has AI prints all over it, from SIRI to Alexa to Alpha zero. AI is expected to puts thousands of humans out of work by 2030 as lots of car manufacturing industries and companies will replace them with AI abled robots. The role of AI in the medical and pharmaceutical industry cannot be overemphasised as Google Deep Mind for example, has beaten well renowned doctors in a breast cancer detection trial. AI in 2016 to 2019 widely referred to as weak AI is nothing compared to AI this year and beyond. Expect strong AI applications and robots in 2021 with no limits.
Smart Cars and Electronic Vehicles
With the constant hikes in fuel prices coupled with the need to save energy and promote a safe environment for humanity, smart cars are in vogue now. They can easily be identified by their small size. Electronic cars are the wave of the future undoubtedly because they save life’s as well. They include saloon cars, SUV’s, transit buses, and big tractor trailers. Categories of electric cars include battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles. Just like Smart cars electric vehicles save the climate. Examples of smart cars and electric vehicles include Alphabet’s Waymo, Appples project titan or Icar, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, Hyundai KONA electric, Renault Zoe, Jaguar I – paceTesla Model S and Tesla Model 3. i expect major smarts cities in the world to use more smart and electric cars come 2021.
